The Preen.ph and PIOPIO #KuboParty is coming—and you’re invited

In just a little over two years after they had launched their first pop-up store in Greenbelt 5, PIOPIO has proven itself a mainstay in local fashion. The brainchild of Paloma Urquijo Zobel, with help from her mother Bea Zobel, the distinct brand that seamlessly blends fashion with heritage is certainly thriving.

Blending modern design with traditional craftsmanship, PIOPIO’s updated everyday wear featuring the expert work of native hand weavers and artisans from all over the country, quickly earned the label many patrons. No shocker there, really. Just browse through their designs, and you can’t help but fall in love with their vibrant embroidery and playful patterns, that transforms the old local weaving practices into something young and fresh.

Not long after their successful launch, their dream cultural hub in El Nido, Kalye Artisano, a sustainable bed and breakfast with a jungle bar and a retail area, was also realized last year.

Now, the PIOPIO team takes the brand further up a notch in the form of Kubo, their first store open to the public located at Esteban St., Legazpi Village, Makati. Aside from housing their own items, available at Kubo are labels that are in line with their brand, like Golden Monstera Jewellery, Finn the Label, Beach Born PH, Inne Studios, and more—giving us the ultimate shopping hub for our sustainable lifestyle needs. Bless! Yeah, you could say it’s a big deal.

To celebrate this latest feat by the brand, Preen.ph and PIOPIO are working together to throw a summer #KuboParty, and yes—you are invited! We promise you this is no ordinary party. Doors will open at 4 p.m. Kicking off the event at 5 p.m. is an insightful talk by Happy Skin co-founder Rissa Mananquil-Trillo, who will share her knowledge on starting a business. Need her advice? Go on and send us your questions for Rissa via Twitter!

After Rissa sets us up with her inspiring talk, it’s time to enjoy performances by Mafia, Miss BadKiss, and the Hernandez Brothers starting at 6 p.m. Lest we forget, it’s going to have the same energy as our famous local festivals, so come in fiesta prints and flip flops. You can also expect jollijeep food and palamig, a special coffee cocktail from Yardstick and Jungle Bar, and food from Your Local. We’ll have a patching station set up too. You could buy denim from PIOPIO, but we recommend you bring an old denim jacket and give it new life with their trademark fabric. Another thing to look forward to is our Instagram giveaway happening at the event. It’s a surprise, but let’s just say you’d regret missing out on this one.

Oh, and did we mention you can bring your pets as well? They’re required to wear fiesta prints too. (Not really, but damn, that would be the cutest thing ever.)
