As we say good-bye to 2018 trends, we now look to the coming year with eagerness as we await the new and innovative trends the fashion gods will bless us. Various experts have given their predictions for 2019. Pinterest have released theirs too, using the data they have. Some of those included in the list, like the bamboo bags and activewear, started this year. But there were also new and interesting trends that got our attention. We’ve rounded them up here, along with items to cop, so you can get a headstart on next year’s trends.
Ruche detail
Searches for “flatteringly gathered gowns, pants and coats” have reportedly been up by 108 percent. Make sure to stay on top of the game with this cute Sies Marjan mid-length mint ruched skirt featuring a high-rise straight fit. Available on Farfetch.
Wrap dresses
With a staggering 689 percent increase in searches on “robe silhouettes,” looks like wrap dresses will be a closet staple for fashionistas this 2019. For a chic look, opt for this two-tone wrap dress from Mango that can take you from day to night. Available at Power Plant Mall.
Snake Print
Animal prints were big this year, specifically leopard. But with the search for snakeskin prints going up by 642 percent, it seems we will be seeing snakes everywhere this 2019 (pun unintended!). Go for this Nora thong bodysuit with a plunging neckline and puffed long sleeves that give it an edgy ’80s vibe. Available on Nordstorm.
African wax prints
Bright and bold patterns will also take center stage the coming year. Thanks largely to Beyonce who have been championing traditional African wax prints this year, Pinterest noted a 229 percent increase of search in their site. Mod sunglasses
The skinny sunglasses trend is predicted to give way to blocky oval sunglasses this year, with searches up by 591 percent. You can cop the Summer by Sunnies which features a retro style with its upturned oval frame in eye-catching colors like the soft pink sorbet. Available at Sunnies Studios.
Tortoiseshell resin
Another pattern we will most likely see, particularly in earrings and jewelry, is the tortoiseshell resin, with a 679 percent increase in Pinterest searches.
