• #missuniverse #missuniverso #confidentlybeautiful #thailand #bangkok #roadtomissuniverse #67thmissuniverse #angelaponce #spain #preliminar
Miss Spain Angela Ponce may not have made it to this year’s top 10, but she’s still a winner to many fans’ hearts. The first trans contestant in the Miss Universe pageant, her participation in the competition was in itself a great victory for the LGBTQ+ community.
Here are just some of the emotional reactions as seen on Twitter by those moved by Miss Spain and her Miss Universe journey.

You know what’s louder than the online bullying and violence hurled against Miss Spain, the first trans Miss Universe candidate?
It’s the earth-shattering noise created by the glass ceiling she broke. Others might get the crown & other prizes, but Miss Spain, she gets the sky.

We have a long way to go before we do right by our trans brothers and sisters. I don’t know if you broke a glass ceiling today, but your story definitely broke my heart. #MissUniverse #MissSpain pic.twitter.com/zRyaSIznMa
