This colour meant a lot to me. It’s a colour in the AXA flag, a colour for the charity @asisterhood that I work with that raises funds and awareness for women who are the victims of acid attacks and FGM and it’s also a colour I feel brightest in. @justboutique_nw thank you for the gown and @randy.madray thank you for producing this gown 💕(big thanks to Lucas and @saffronjadecorcoran ) #missuniverse #preliminarycompetition
25-year-old Miss Universe Great Britain, Dee-Ann Kentish Rogers is the first black woman crowned with that title.
“To my knowledge, I am the first dreadlocked woman to walk across a Miss Universe Great Britain stage and that is absolutely most exciting to me,” she said.
She is a graduate of law from Birmingham University and is set to be a barrister this month. She is also a competitive athlete, and even won a silver medal in heptathlon in the Central American and Caribbean Games and a bronze medal in the CARIFTA Games.
Best of luck to you, Ms. Great Britain!
