Colored Haircare

Late last year, I did something different with my hair and went blonde. I was able to maintain it for a year and even had some tips for all of you. A few months shy of hitting the one-year mark, I was already thinking of my next hair color and finally decided on pink. After a four-hour process I had a beautiful head of raspberry pink locks.

It has been about week since I’ve had my pink hair an I love it. But, since then, I’ve also changed some steps in my haircare routine from the products that I use to extra steps like changing my towels. So, if you’re thinking about dyeing your hair a non-natural color, here are some tips to help you through the transition.

Human Nature Professional Salon Care Shampoo

Since I’m no longer blonde, I have switched my regular purple shampoo. My hairstylist suggested I pick up this sulfate-free shampoo. It works best for chemically-treated hair and prevents the dye from fading fast. It also improves hair elasticity and had oils that leave hair soft. Something you should strive for if you have processed hair. Available at Rustan’s Supermarket branches.

Bench Argan Oil Age Defying Hair Treatment

Aside from conditioner, don’t forget to stock up on hair oils too. You can apply it when your hair is still damp or after drying it out. This argan oil will restore any damaged hair and leave it soft and shiny. Start off with just a small amount so your locks don’t get too oily. Available at Bonifacio High Street.

Olaplex No. 3: Hair Perfector

When you’re in between treatments, do one at home. For best results, use this at least once a week. All you have to do is apply it on damp hair, comb through, and leave it in for ten minutes before rinsing. You will notice that your hair looks and feels stronger. Available on HairMNL.

H&M Home Bath Towel

Now that you have all you haircare products, you need to prepare other things in your home. If you have non-natural colors like blue, green, and pink, the dye will fade between washes and transfer too. This usually happens after taking a shower when your hair’s wet so switch out your light-colored towels to a dark color like black. Available at SM Makati.

Habitat Washed Charcoal Pillowcase

The hair dye might also transfer to your pillows so change those up too. These come in a dark gray color so that if dye is transferred, they won’t be so noticeable. Available at Glorietta 3.

Nami Lolita Clip

Now that you have colored hair, outfits are planned around it. You want to make sure everything goes together well and nothing clashes. This will also be your best accessory so take advantage of it. I’ve been styling my hair a bit differently with clips and headbands. I’m just having fun with it and you should too. Available online.
