You might think that wearing a jacket in this Manila heat is not the smartest thing to do, but some celebrities have a way around it. You’ve probably seen this all over Instagram: ladies with jackets baring their shoulders. Nadine Lustre did this by pairing a boucle jacket with a printed camisole.
Sofia Andres did this too but with a denim jacket over a gray tank top.
Issa Pressman is a fan of this look too as she is seen sporting it for the gram multiple times. Here she is rocking a sports jacket over a velvet top.
As contradicting as this may seem, this is a way you can dress for the erratic weather we’ve been having. Keep the jacket off your shoulders when the sun’s up but throw it back on when it starts to rain. Best of both worlds, right? If you’re a fan of this idea, we came up with some outerwear and top combos below.
Shop: Bershka, Available at SM Aura Premier. Stradivarius, Available at Glorietta 2.
Let’s start off with a black on black pairing. This black bomber jacket will go with almost anything you have in your closet. To match, wear a black camisole underneath. The lace trim will soften your outfit, giving it a more feminine touch. You can keep your shoulder exposed when it gets too hot.
Shop: Zara, Available at Greenbelt 5. Topshop, Available at Power Plant Mall.
A denim jacket also works for this trend. We suggest wearing a cropped one. That way, when you wear it off your shoulder, it doesn’t drape too long at the back. For this white denim jacket, wear a camisole underneath that has some embellishments. This top has chain straps, which you can show off when your jacket isn’t on all the way.
Keep your look edgy with a leather jacket. Instead of going for the usual black piece, get it in a blush hue. Underneath, go for something sleek and clean like a white bodysuit. This one has a V neckline and criss-cross straps. Wear this on a night out and get ready to pose for some Instagram photos.
Shop: Uniqlo, Available at Estancia Mall. Vero Moda, Available at Uptown Mall.
On casual days or even for just lounging around the house, throw on a basic tank top. It’s sure to keep you cool in this heat. But when it does start to get a bit chilly, drape a light cardigan on top. Pair this with joggers or sweatpants for the ultimate lazy day outfit.
