Dupe or Rip Off: Did This Fast-Fashion Brand Copy Rihanna’s Slides?

Just a mere few weeks ago, Puma dropped its latest collection from its FENTY x Puma collab, featuring bow slides and sneakers designed by Rihanna. Now, fast-fashion retailer Forever21 released a very similar pair to the pink bow slides. And it’s got people talking about the line between dupe and just plain ripoff.

This is not the first time Forever 21 has been accused of completely taking a design from another clothing company to make their own wares. From indie brands to big labels, there have been eyebrow-raising similar products that raise the issue of copyright claims. Neither is Forever 21 the only label who gets accused of copying. Last year, Zara had to face Internet backlash due to their creations that look similar to an indie artist’s works.

Where do you think the line is when it comes to taking inspiration from a higher brand end and where does outright copying start?
