For a moment there, it almost appeared as if Filipina-German Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach would be coming home with first runner-up status to Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez. The blonde statuesque beauty was already wearing the Miss Universe crown when host Steve Harvey rushed to the stage to admit a major error on his part: He had read his cue cards wrong and had mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as Miss Universe 2015.

The look of shock and disbelief on Pia’s face, naturally, was priceless as this one Twitter user posted a video of her reaction online for posterity’s sake:

It was definitely one of the more dramatic moments of the highly anticipated night.

During the question and answer portion, Pia gave a winning statement when asked, “Why should you be the next Miss Universe?”

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez and Philippines’ bet Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach oments before the big announcement is made

“To be a Miss Universe is both an honor and a responsibility. If I were to be Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I will raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country, i.e. Philippines. I want to show the world—the Universe, rather—that I am confident and beautiful from the heart.”

Pia is the third Filipina to win the title since Gloria Diaz won in 1969, and Margie Moran took home the crown in 1973.
