Now that summer’s over, you’d think that no one is going to the beach anymore. But nope, we still saw a lot of people when we went to La Union recently and they didn’t let a little rain stop them from playing in the water. Though some surfers might’ve gotten out of the water when the weather didn’t cooperate.
We wore cover-ups and hoodies over our swimsuits while we were walking to get lunch. So when the rain stopped or if we wanted to swim, it was easy for us to take them off. We also made sure our stuff stayed dry since not all of us brought umbrellas.
Do you have a beach trip planned out too but not sure whether there’ll be a rainstorm or not? It’s best to prepare yourself and bring items like the ones we listed below just in case.
Don’t let the rain stop you from wearing your swimsuit. If it’s not too stormy and you feel like it’s safe to wear a bikini, go for this one from Faithfull the Brand. Lara is a bralette bikini top with a scoop neckline and a thick tie straps at the back, while Chrissy is a thong-style bottom. Available online.
You can also opt for a one-piece swimsuit, especially if you’re planning on surfing and other water sports. (Don’t forget a rashguard!) This piece from Topshop comes in various colors from sunny orange to pale pink. It has a straight neckline, skinny straps, and a low back detail. Available at Shangri-La Plaza.
This cover-up doubles as a hoodie dress. It’s made from cotton, has a front pocket and a drawstring hood you can put up when it starts drizzling. Also keep in mind that it’s a little translucent too so this might not be ideal if you get cold easily. Available at Rustan’s Makati.
Aside from your trusty denim shorts, you can also wear these shorts from Pull & Bear. It’s made from polyester and has an elastic waistband. This is great for hanging out at the beach and also for going out later in the evening. Available at SM Megamall.
Whether it’s sunny or rainy, you should wear something with a rubber outsole. Reef’s sandals has a comfy footbed to ensure that your feet don’t hurt while walking and give you arch heel support. This is also ideal for walking on wet sand as it’s sturdy and easy to clean off. Available at Uptown Mall.
Put all your necessities like sunblock (just in case the sun appears), towel, cover-up, and extra clothes in a spacious tote bag. The blue and white stripes remind us of the bags we use while grocery shopping. Available at Glorietta 1.
Keep your phone and other essentials dry by putting them in Viajecito’s Splashkit. It’s made from a rubber-like waterproof material and the best part is there are many color options to choose from. If you like fun hues, go for this yellow one with coral pink lining. There are also neutral colors like gray and navy blue. Available online.
You can choose to bring shades that have light-colored lenses like the Benny in Sepia. You can wear this when the sun’s up or when it’s gloomy. Just don’t wear these when it starts pouring, okay? Available at SM Mall of Asia.
How do you dry your hair quickly and keep it away from your face at the same time? Then cop this handy turban from Aquis. It’s designed with Aquitex technology which helps in drying hair to a damp state without damaging it. It’s also lightweight so you won’t feel like you’re carrying a towel bundle on your head. Available on Sephora PH.
