Anne Curtis finished the London Marathon last night and she documented her experience on Instagram Stories. Anne is definitely a running junkie and has joined other marathons in the past. She finished a half marathon at RUNRIO and SMDC Run, among others. She also joined the NYC Marathon in November 2016. This time, however, she pushed herself even more and joined a full marathon. That’s 42 km.
On Instagram she shared her training experience, which didn’t always go according to plan. One day she shared, “Today was supposed to be my LAST long run of 34km before I taper. Unfortunately, I only got to 14 and then the side of my right foot started aching.” Despite this, Anne was still determined to finish the London Marathon. Days leading up to the marathon she also ran 13 km and shared photos with her different medals.
During the marathon itself, Anne shared some snippets of the race on Instagram Stories. Here’s a peek at the starting line.
She also checked in at 30 kilometers and Anne said she was “so tired.”
With just 385 yards to go, Anne posted this photo with a big smile on her face.
Husband Erwan Heussaff was also there to cheer her on. He also snapped this photo with her finisher medal.
Are you inspired to join a marathon now? Before you start training like an athlete, we wanted to put together a list of items to prepare you for it.
Anne stayed hydrated during the marathon with a running belt from Fitletic. It has a large pouch where you can keep essentials like you phone, energy gels, and wallet. To keep her energy levels up, Anne also carried a few packs of caffeine gel. Aside from delivering fast energy, it also lowers perception of effort so that runners maintain their performance. You can use these before or during the marathon. They come in different flavors like cola and berry. Available at Chris Sports, Uptown Place Mall.
Make sure you have comfortable and durable sneakers on when running. It is made of a breathable flyknit upper so your feet won’t feel sweaty. This new design also has a lightweight react foam cushioning “for a responsive feel.” Cop it in their different colorways like pearl pink, black, and cool grey. Available at Glorietta 4.
Since you’ll be running for a long distance, it’s best to wear shorts that give support but also doesn’t restrict your movements. these shorts have a lightweight built-in lining that provides coverage and support. It also has an elastic waistband and hidden zipper pocket. Available at Bonifacio High Street.
To go with your shorts, throw on a sports bra and tank top. This one from H&M is a combination of the two. It is a loose-fitting sports tank made of fast-drying fabric. The sports bra has a double layer fabric, elastic hem, and crossover straps. Available at SM Makati.
