Jump on the Ultra Violet Trend with these Beauty Picks

Shove aside, Greenery. You were a good Pantone Color of the Year but 2018 is coming in with Ultra Violet. The chosen shade speaks of positive thoughts and making something beautiful out of unlikely elements. Expect the coming days to bring a wash of different products in this color to imbibe its message. Think of all the collabs that will happen, how the runways will respond, and even how the food industry will jump on it. A great way to make ube even a bigger hit in top restaurants, maybe?

In the beauty world, violet is almost a staple shade. It’s hue can adapt a wine-berry tone that’s vampy but it can also have a neon tinge that’s fun for a party look. It’s a safe in-between when you’re sick of a red lip but not to bold for a loud blue one. Purple can be mixed with red to give a great blush for darker skin tones. It also looks good in glitter formulas. If you’re excited to get on the Ultra Violet train, here are few readily available violet products to try.

Kat Von D Beauty  Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Metallic Violet

Speaking of party looks, this eyeshadow is a shoo-in for your Christmas party look. It goes well with a classic black dress but would also be nice with your sparkly silver top. If you’re feeling adventurous, spray on some setting mist on to your brush before dipping it into the shadow to get an even more intense effect. Available via SephoraPH.

Bobbi Brown  Art Stick Liquid Lip in Boysenberry

When it comes to lip shades, I am a fan of that “Just drank some wine” look. You can achieve this with the Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip. Deposit a small dot on your finger and dab it for that tint effect. If you want to go for the full opaque effect, use the tip to manipulate the liquid on so you can define your lip. Available at SM Makati.

NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple Velvet

If you want to create a simple purple smokey eye, you can use this creamy pencil. Line it to where you want the color to be and smudge with your finger or a brush to smoke it out as it mixes with the other colors. Available at SM City North EDSA.

YSL Mascara Volume Effect Faux Cils in Fascinating Violet

If a new lipstick shade doesn’t excite you, try this colored mascara. It gives the same dramatic effect as a black one but with a bit of a twist. You can use it compliment your purple eyeshadow  or to just use it on its own to update your signature makeup look. Available online.

Sephora Collection Purple Clay Mask

We would be amiss if we don’t include some skincare here. You’ll have fun with your mask selfie with this purple clay formula that moisturizes and soothes the skin. Its squeezy pouch packaging makes this a great option for traveling. Do you honestly need anything more? Available via SephoraPH.

Lush Sleepy Body Lotion

This sold out purple lotion can knock you out like no other. It’s why people are raving about it. Chalk up the craze to its lavender flower and sweet tonka absolute blend. Top that with the smoothing sensation of fair trade organic cocoa butter. If you get your hands on a pot, trust us, don’t let it go. Available at Bonifacio High Street.
