Get to Know the Designers Behind Your Favorite Celebrity Wedding Gowns

I haven’t dreamed about my wedding dress just yet. Maybe it’s because my prospects for a groom were like Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar awards before The Revenant. Still, I bet that even if you are in my situation, you like looking at wedding gowns. Some take months to make and an army of sewers to put together. Shoutout to Anne Curtis and her Monique Lhuillier gown! Others are hunted down while some seem to just find the bride they are meant to be with.

Regardless, a wedding dress is often envisioned by a designer who wants to make the woman feel extra special on her big day. It’s one day a women is licensed to feel like a princess so the designer needs to be worth their salt. We picked out a few of our favorites from recent celebrity weddings so you know exactly what we’re talking about.

Solenn Heussaff

Lili Hod was a name that launched a handful of Google searches when Solenn Heussaff credited the designer for her 2016 wedding gown. Prior to establishing her own label in 2010, Lili trained under John Galliano for Dior.

Idina Menzel

In a surprise wedding, Idina Menzel chose Carolina Herrera for her gown. She looked like a Disney princess, not a surprise for the Frozen voice talent. The dress came from the spring 2018 collection from the brand.

Isabelle Daza

If you watched It Girls, you’ll get a glimpse at how Isabelle Daza chose her wedding dress. In the end, she wore a Vera Wang creation. With this pick, Isabelle joins the gang of Vera Wang brides which include Chelsea Clinton, Ivanka Trump, and Alicia Keys

Pippa Middleton

Pippa got married in a Giles Deacon creation early this year. It was a bit of a surprise since Giles was known for his flamboyant designs while Pippa had a taste for something elegant. Vogue describes the combination of these two worlds: “Constructed entirely of lace, the material had been hand-assembled to create a seamless sheath, and embroidered with tiny pearls. But Deacon’s skill is in trifling with tradition. Hence, the high neck added a touch of unexpected drama; the capped sleeves a contemporary edge.”

Serena Williams

Serena Williams chose a Sarah Burton creation for Alexander McQueen on her big day. The designer is a pick for other brides including the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. Serena’s gown featured a huge skirt, and sparkling XIV Karats jewelery that cost around  £2.6million.

Kate Upton

When it comes to wedding dresses and evening gowns, the name Valentino never fails. Kate Upton’s recent November nuptials was  one from the label with a “lace overlay and sleeves, and tulle veil that tumbled down her train.”

Dra. Vicki Belo

Sometimes, I watch the video of Dra. Vicki’s gown being made to remind me of what dreams can look like. Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco loves going for statement-making dresses. No wonder his A-list client list keeps getting longer.
