6 Pieces to Help You Plan Your Next Dinner with the Girls

table setting

Hosting dinner parties or wine nights with your girlfriends shouldn’t be a thing of the past. If you have the place and space where your friends can enjoy a meal or a few drinks, start planning your next get together. You’ll be able to spend some time with your friends and have an excuse to get some things to set your table. If you’re not quite sure what you’ll need, we’ve listed some basic items and where to get them.

Keep your table clean by setting down placemats for each of your guests. This will also act as the base for the rest of your items like plates and flatware. Start off with one that has a minimalist design like the round braided jute placemat from H&M. Available at SM Makati.

Avoid watermarks and add a pop of color to your setting with coasters. You can add more of a decorative element through these pieces. The tres jaq coasters from The Olive Tree are a good option because you get a set with three different designs, adding a subtle but distinct pattern to each setting. Available online.

The glassware you choose to use can change depending on what drink you will be serving your guests. You can opt to add wine, champagne and whiskey glasses if you are serving those beverages. For your basic glasses, goblets always work. These fresca acrylic goblets from Pottery Barn can be used for indoor and outdoor gatherings as they are shatter resistant. Available at Central Square.

Another simple way to add personal style to your table is through the napkin design. You can match these with your coasters or get ones that complement the other elements of your setting. These linen and crochet napkins in sky blue go well with the tres jaq coasters. Available online.

Dinner Plates

If you’re using designed elements such as coasters and napkins, the plates can be on the minimalistic side. The porto light gray dinner plates from Crate and Barrel has a rustic shape and textured pattern but minimal compared to the other elements on the table. Available at SM Makati.

An obvious essential is flatware. Again, you can pick ones that complement the other elements you have laid out. The harper rose gold flatware from Crate and Barrel are plated with gold-copper alloy and have rounded handles that can be used for everyday dining. Available at SM Makati.
